Santa Monica has become a go-to place for us for a weekend getaway. Seems to be a perfect place for a quick girls weekend, birthday celebration, or family trip. The Hotel Oceana is a lovely respite from the LA scene, but close enough to enjoy the scene if you like. Modern decor with light and pretty rooms. I recommend requesting an ocean view.
The hotel has a beautiful pool area with cool comfortable lounges. It has a retro feel with clean lines to make you feel pampered but not overstimulated. A sitting area with a fireplace and a small al fresco eating area make it easy to relax.
The restaurant Tower 8 is open to guests only which makes it very accessible and charming. The food is farm to table, and tasty. The menu is limited but more than enough for a quick bite to eat.
Bar open until 10:30.
Complimentary beach bikes. Top-notch hotel service.
Hit some of these amazing Santa Monica restaurants–all are walkable or at the very least a quick uber away.
1. Dinner at Georgio Baldi. Incredible Italian food. Focus on the food. Homemade family recipes. I had the meatball appetizer and the Ricotta stuffed ravioli with asparagus. Melts in your mouth. A relevant wine list, and very cool pour. No liquor drinks served.
2. Tallulahs Mexican restaurant next door to Baldis. Fun atmosphere. Very festive, hip, decor. Love the lanterns. Mexican family style service. Seating a little tight but worth it. Margaritas tight and right. Neat tequila options are impressive.
3. Forma located on Montana Ave (which is another post-worthy area to rave about. ) Two words sum up this restaurant: Cheese Bar. You can create your own, or have the professionals do it for you. You really cannot go wrong. The presentation is lovely. The pasta is served Dalla Forma–a preparation where freshly cooked pasta is finished in large cheese wheels prior to being served.
4. Cora’s Coffee Shop. Amazing breakfast in a quaint garden setting. Fantastic service, walkable from The Oceana Hotel.
